A useful building block for an Acme-based productivity system

I’ve been keeping this snippet in my Acme tag: |later 1. When I select some text and swipe that command, it erases the text and adds it to my calendar 1 day in the future. I can change the 1 to any number of days.

If it’s a recurring task, I’ll embed the command in the text itself, like Take the garbage to the curb |later 7, which propagates the recurrence schedule in a way that’s easy to edit.

There could be as many implementations of later as there are productivity systems, so I’m not going to bother pasting mine here. If you live in Acme, write your own and try this pattern out. :)
